*_EPISODE SIX_*
(THE SECOND CHRONICLES…)
This particular book opens with pictures attached to its inner front page. Pictures of a man running after a bouillon van that had the inscriptions; “LUSTFUL PLEASURES”, but while the man tried to catch up with this bouillon van, by all means, he didn’t see the big pit in front of him, demarcating him from this van.
This picture got me stucked for some time but I knew I wouldn’t understand the pictorial description unless I read the story therein and so I flipped open to the next page…..
It happened that in a faraway city flowing with milk and honey, there lived thousands of people who were involved in sales of goods of services.
This city was filled with men and women from all walks of life. Neighboring countrymen also came to this city for business but this same city was also filled with men and women who were wicked and inconsiderate.
This particular family seemed to be doing well in business. Everybody came to their warehouse to buy goods from them and so along the line when the man and wife noticed that people were trooping into their warehouse they decided to become fraudulent and duped people of huge amount of money.
One particular day, a man came to buy goods from this warehouse as he had always been doing. He demanded for two hundred cartons of that particular product worth 1.5 million naira. He wrote the seller a bank cheque and requested that his cartons of goods be packed into his truck but instead of the two hundred cartons, he paid for to be packed into his truck, only a hundred and fifty cartons were packed. This merchant drove off unknown to him.
The man and his wife felt they had duped another person again but unknown to them this man they duped was not just human, but he also belonged to a fraternity that was deadly and brutal. He made a report to his cult members and they vowed to help him deal with the sellers.

After the close of sales for the day, the man and wife together with all his sales representatives locked up all the warehouses and went home to celebrate another “awoof” money. After they had eaten and drank to their fill, they all fell asleep each on another.
They haven’t slept into the night when a mysterious fire broke out in the home, by the time they realized what was going on, their house was already burnt to ashes. Neighbors gathered from far and near but nobody could trace the source of the fire, every single thing in the house got razed down by the mysterious fire.
“Come let us go to the warehouse and pitch our tent there,” said the head of the home.
The warehouse was quite a distance from the house but they walked anyways since their cars were also burnt to ashes. After about three hours of trekking and almost fainting, they arrived the warehouse and what they saw left them in everlasting pain and regrets.
Aside from the fact that the warehouse was broken into, it was also brought down by a mysterious fire. Of all the warehouses in that particular area, only theirs caught fire and up until date, nobody could trace the origin of the fire. There were no leaking gas or even fuel but then there was a mysterious fire. Everybody gathered round about them to sympathize with them, some who knew that the man and his wife were greedy showed little or no concern, some said;

“Nemesis has caught up with them”
“This is just the beginning”
Others sympathized with them and helped to put out the fire but the more attempt they made to put out the fire, the hotter it became and the more it spread to other parts of the warehouse.
This couple’s quest for more even when they had more than enough exposed them to the enemy.
Many times, believers in our quest for more money, fame or power as the case may be, we delve into certain things that would even make the devil be surprised at us forgetting that he who breaks the hedge the serpent will bite….
After I had finished reading, I looked to the direction of my wall clock and it was just 10 pm and so I decided to pick up THE THIRD CHRONICLES…

*_EPISODE SEVEN_*

(THE THIRD CHRONICLES…)
While growing up, I’ve always known that God has prophets and prophetesses but I never really got to know that there are people engaged in sorcery until I came across the THIRD CHRONICLES…
“This particular woman has been married for over a decade now and she had no child. She visits every available prayer house in her neighborhood and even beyond. There were times she came home looking dirty and unkempt, she never got to tell her husband what the prophet told her to do at the prayer house, and instead she would just have her bathe and go to sleep. All efforts made by her husband to discourage her from going to prayer houses proved futile. In her words :
WIFE: you are not the one being mocked, and so you don’t know how it feels.
HUSBAND: at God’s own appointed time we will have children.
WIFE: God’s appointed time is now and I will take the bull by the horn.
This woman continued moving from one so called prayer house to another seeking for solution to her problem until she came across a particular PROPHET. This prophet told her that her husband was responsible for her inability to bear children, he told her that her husband tied her womb in his coven where he is the head of the cult. He went ahead to tell her that the only remedy was for her to begin to sleep with him being the prophet and that in no distant time she would be with a child.
WIFE: God forbid! I can’t commit adultery against my husband and against God, we are Christians.
FALSE PROPHET: Christians you say?
Christians and he tied your womb in his coven?
Christian and yet you haven’t been with a child?
Didn’t your Bible tell you that children are a heritage of God’s blessings?
So why haven’t your God blessed you if truly he is in good terms with you and your husband?
Woman, the only remedy that the lord has given me is that you play ith me and soon he will satisfy your desires.
WIFE: does God now permits adultery?
FALSE PROPHET: woman, you ask too many questions. Go home and think about it. I will be right here waiting for you.
This woman went home and began to rain insults on her husband on how that he had tied her womb to his coven.
“How can I a man of God tie the womb of my wife to a coven”?
“Man of God you say? No you ain’t! I have seen the real man of God and he has given me the solution to my childlessness.”

From that day forward, she never allowed her husband to lay with her anymore. She would leave her matrimonial home in the morning and return very late in the night, most times she never returned. She and her lawfully wedded husband became roommates and no more soul mates. Her new home became the home of this prophet. She cooked for him, slept with him and even lived there.
After about three months of partially living with this prophet, she hadn’t taken in. she began to complain one morning and the prophet told her that she was in a hurry and that in due time she would take in. he went ahead to tell her that God said she should divorce her husband and that only then will she be able to get pregnant.
Out of desperation and not knowing God for herself, she went ahead and filed for divorce.
After about ten years of living with this prophet and yet no child, her eyes became opened to the fact that she was charmed into every single thing she had done to herself and against her husband. But ten it was too late, her husband had married another woman and they were living happily.
After about a month, she feel ill and on getting to the hospital she was diagnosed with sexually transmitted diseases and infections…”

*************************
I wept as I closed the THIRD CHRONICLES. How can one who calls herself a Christian fall for such a cheap lie?
Doesn’t the foundation of God stands sure anymore?
Didn’t the bible say that those who names the name of Christ should depart from iniquity?
Is God no longer the same yesterday, today and forever?
How could he had permitted adultery?
I felt like strangling the false prophet. As I closed my eyes to sleep, tears kept rolling down my cheeks. At a point I felt I shouldn’t read the chronicles anymore but the more I didn’t want to read them, the more my spirit wanted more and so I moved on to THE FOURTH CHRONICLES….

(THE FOURTH CHRONICLES…)
Jealousy they say is the sin that no one talks about. The FOURTH CHRONICLES opens with two female college students.
These two students happened to be roommates and course mates but they were not destiny mates. Tessy was more intelligent than Sarah. Sarah showed little or no interest in her academics, she spent most of her time wining and partying in clubs while Tessy attended all her lectures, did her assignments and read her books too.
One of the days after they had finished lectures for the day, Tessy tried to talk Sarah into staying back in the school premises and studying but Sarah blatantly refused.
Several months down the line, Sarah came to the room one evening and gave Tessy her wedding invitation card. The duo hugged themselves and Sarah congratulated her friend. But it didn’t end there!
How can Sarah who almost is a prostitute get married before me?
How can Sarah who knows little or nothing about academics get married before me?
How can Sarah who I am even more beautiful than get married at all, then no to talk of getting married before me?
How can Sarah who has never even attended church get married before me?
Tessy kept talking to herself as she walked down to the class room. She found it hard to concentrate and soon bitterness flooded her heart. She began to develop hatred for her friend who was almost like a sister to her. She never participated in her friend’s wedding preparations, she practically was quarrelling with God as she never went to church anymore or even prayed. But the more she stayed away from the lord, the heavier her heart became and little by little she became a witch on two feet.
The night before Sarah’s wedding, Tessy showed up in her friend’s hotel room and apologized for her absence all through the wedding preparations. She attributed her laxity to school work and also promised to be with her friend on the morrow. To celebrate their comeback, Tessy brought a cake she had baked for her friend and pleaded that her friend have a slice of the cake.
Tessy took a slice and Sarah followed suit, after they had both eaten and drank wine, they both fell asleep.
Its Sarah’s wedding morning and the two friends were still asleep. People kept knocking and knocking but there was no response coming from the other side and so they resorted into breaking the door. They found both friends lying unconscious on the floor and rushed them to the hospital. On getting to the hospital, Sarah the bride was declared dead on arrival while Tessy was rushed to the theater for surgery.
While they operated on her, her friend’s husband to be walked in so pained and bitter and asked that Tessy fulfill her dead friend’s desire. He asked Tessy to marry him in place of his would-be wife who just passed on! As she opened her mouth to speak, she passed out. The doctors rushed and began to administer treatment and all manner of injections to her.

Two months after she survived the theatre, Tessy got married to her best friend’s husband.
Love they say is a beautiful thing but tessy’s kind of love was not anything close to beautiful!
Richard came home whenever he liked, he never ate her food, he kept flirting with ladies of all sizes and shapes, and he engaged in domestic violence and also threatened to kill Tessy if she ever told anyone about their family issues. Tessy prayed for death but death was far from her, the more she prayed to die the more wicked Richard became, the more he kept hitting her, the more promiscuous he became and the more he starved her…….
I imagined what Tessy had gone through in the hands of a man who wasn’t originally designed to be hers. I imagined what desperation and jealousy had caused a beautiful young lady with a promising future. I kept thinking about how she ended up finally until I fell asleep.

*_EPISODE EIGHT_*

(THE FIFTH CHRONICLES…)
The more I read THE CHRONICLES, the more pity I felt for the old man. I began to understand why he always cried at every point in time. His children must have really hurt him I said to myself, but even with the way I felt for him, it didn’t deter me from reading THE CHRONICLES any more maybe because I was determined in my heart to bring father and children back together, I didn’t know how but I just knew I would do it.
The old man’s children never ceased to amaze me with their behaviors and atrocities but just before I thought I had read enough I stumbled upon THE FIFTH CHRONICLES after school and it opened with a Christian family who just finished their night devotion and was retiring to bed when suddenly the phone of the father of the home rang, he answered the call and stepped out of his matrimonial home that night. He didn’t give detailed explanations to his wife and kids, he just stormed out of the house and that was the manifestation of all what he had in his cupboard.
It happened that this Christian man had friends who didn’t believe in his faith. He professed Christ but the people he moved with were not Christ like in anything at all but he kept hanging out with them thinking they would change but instead of him to change them they were the ones who changed him and made him a laughing stock in the city.

Day after day, as this man hung around with his unbelieving friends, they began to teach him certain things that were against the Christian faith. He began to maltreat his wife and children. He rarely gave them money and never showed concerns in his family affairs. He spent more time with his friends than with his family, they talked him into keeping late nights and engaging in all manner of sorts; he stopped eating meals prepared by his lawfully wedded wife.
On one occasion while he and his friends were together, they brought all manner of drinks to the table, this Christian man quietly ordered for a bottle of malt. At the sight of the bottle of malt, his friends laughed at him hysterically and then they asked him
“Is drinking a sin”?
“Didn’t the bible say that we should drink and not be drunk”?
“Are you not aware that Apostle Paul encouraged timothy to take a little alcohol for his stomach pain?
“Why then are you behaving like a small boy?
Just one bottle will do you no harm!”
After much struggles, this Christian man gave in to their demands and drank with them all. From the look of things, he enjoyed the meeting for he asked them “when next are we meeting”?
They answered and he left.
On the exact day of meeting, he was the first to arrive but on this particular day he who bought all the drinks on the table and they all drank to their fill.
He became addicted to keeping late nights and drunkenness was the order of the day. His wife and children always wondered how things got this bad. He wasn’t a pastor but he was a Christian who loved the lord with all his heart. But then I had one thing against him:
He was yoked with unbelievers, they were his friends, they were his advisers, and they indirectly managed the affairs of his home. In a twinkle of an eye a Christian man became a drunk and even a distributor of alcohol. He lost fellowship with his family and even with God. He could no longer pray because his quiet time, prayer life and all the time he had for spiritual activities has been taken over by unquenchable thirst for alcohol.

THE FIFTH CHRONICLES didn’t state exactly how the man ended but I was very convinced in my spirit that he didn’t have a happy ending for woe is unto the man who puts his hand in the plough and looks back!
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I became tired and always bitter whenever I read THE CHRONICLES, not because I didn’t want to read them anymore and proffer solution to the problem on ground but the stories of baba’s children made me weep every now and then and so I made up my mind to return baba’s books to him.
I was tired of shedding tears and so one Saturday morning after my parents and sisters had gone for early morning exercise, I tip toed out of the house and ran as fast as my legs could carry me to baba’s house.
On reaching there, I found him sitting at the usual spot and just staring into space.
I laid at his feet and wept for quite some time, after a while he asked:
“My son, didn’t I tell you not to come back until you are done reading?
I know you are not done but why have you come?
Has the atrocities of my children made you restless that you no longer concentrate anymore?
Have you now seen the many reasons why I am a weeping old man??
My children needs help and that was one of the reasons I gave you the books to read, for if you are able to know their problems you would be able to proffer solutions to them. My children are many, all scattered over the surface of the earth but I practically have no one to call them back to order for they are all of the same feathers.
“But wise one, why am I the one you have chosen to read these chronicles?
why didn’t you choose someone else? I am but a child.
“Yes! You are my child but you are not too small.
You are not too small to call people to order. You are not too small to be the mouthpiece of the weeping old man. Perhaps they might listen to you since they can’t listen to their old father. You are not too small to show forth the light where there is darkness. “
“Ok! Wise one, I will read through the chronicles so as to know where I can offer help and solution………
I bid the old man goodbye and I promised myself that I would never go back to him until I was done reading the chronicles. I walked slowly to our house and tiptoed into my room. My parents and siblings weren’t back from their exercise and so I quickly showered and laid on my bed to rest.
I found myself, hours later muttering words that I myself didn’t understand and nobody was home to explain them to me. This happened for long till my parents came home, I was so not in control of my body anymore. The more I muttered those words, I shed uncontrollably tears.
Everybody in the house were confused as they have never seen me in that state before. My parents realized what was happening at that point in time and urged me never to stop by my own power. I could hear their voices outside my room as they encouraged me to keep praying and not to stop the “push”.
Suddenly I began to hear the names of baba’s children in my sub-conscious. I mentioned their names one after the other and I prayed for them. I travailed in the place of prayers for baba’s children but I also noticed that the names never stopped coming forth, his children were as numerous as the sand of the sea shore…..

*_EPISODE NINE_*

(THE SIXTH CHRONICLES…)
After I had finished praying, I went downstairs to join the rest of the family members’ for dinner. My sisters’ kept staring at me like people who had seen ghosts but I was too weak to respond to any of their side comments. I had my dinner in silence, thinking about the weeping old man and his numerous children.
“How on earth would a human being have such a large number of children?”
“Are they all his children?
Or ore some of them grand and great grand too?”
A lot was going on in my head but nobody seemed to have the answer to my numerous questions and so I made up my mind to get myself buried in THE CHRONICLES perhaps I might find my answers therein. I went upstairs to my room but sleep was far from me and so I picked up THE SIXTH CHRONICLES. Of all the chronicles I’ve read so far this particular one drove me to tears as it was centered on division amongst baba’s children.
In this particular chronicle, none of baba’s children agreed to a particular thing. They all had different ideologies about everything even about their father’s business. Some of them believed that that their father resides in them while some believed that he was abstract. Some of them were so engrossed in their doctrines more than what the Bible says. They never agreed on anything together, they were always fighting over one thing or the other.
In fact I read in the sixth chronicles where one of his sons said “fornication isn’t a sin for the grace of God is abundant”. I know I’m still very much tender in age but according to what my parents had taught us in times past and are even still teaching us, I know what sin is. By the way are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? God Forbid!
Seeing what baba’s children were doing made me feel bad that I even found it difficult to move to the next paragraph because I don’t even know what the next story line would like. But then, my father used to tell me that he who runs from a fight, lives to fight another day, which means whether or not I flipped the next page, one thing was sure, I would still read it!.

I flipped the pages of the sixth chronicles and saw where it was recorded that some of baba’s children were getting married. Marriage of course is a beautiful thing but as I read further I noticed that they weren’t getting married to the opposite sexes; the males married the males and the females married the females. My heart was broken! How would a woman get married to a fellow woman? I pondered on this but I found no answer anywhere!
I wept as I imagined what baba would be going through and how he must have felt the very first time he heard about the atrocities of his children. I made up my mind to help him locate his children and talk sense into them.
I kept reading the chronicles on a daily basis while I also attended school and read my books simultaneously. I sat for the common entrance examination and came first position in the state and was awarded with the state’s scholarship to one of the prominent secondary school within the state capital……
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

It took me two years to finish reading THE CHRONICLES. I was in junior secondary school two and junior waec was fast approaching. I finally approached the old man after I was done reading and he said to me:
“folorunsho Adams, it is true that you’ve finished reading the chronicles and I know pretty well that you are ready to locate my children and warn them of the impending disaster coming their way, but my child, you are yet but a toddler.
My children are terrible people and they might not listen to you, in fact they have rejected many of the persons I had sent to them in times past and so my son, I need you to grow in stature and in your walk with the lord. You will visit my children but not now, there’s a process I want you to pass through.”
“Wise one, what process are you talking about? Haven’t I finished reading the chronicles? Isn’t it yet time for me to visit your children? And here you are talking about process! What other process are you talking about?”
“my son, I bear you witness that you have a zeal and enthusiasm for God, but it is not enlightened and according to correct and vital knowledge” {Romans 10:2}, AMP}.
I will take you through a process. It is going to be very challenging but I don’t want you to lose hope and to lose faith. Always remember that I want the best for my children and the best they shall surely get.
I didn’t understand the process the old man was talking about but one thing I was sure of was that he wouldn’t mislead me at least for the sake of his children. I hurriedly left him and went back to my father’s house to continue studying.
At this point in my life the old man has taught me how to pray consistently, he taught me how to hold long conversations with God in the place of prayer. I became a student of prayer, always praying and reading my bible in my closet but my older siblings were getting worked up with my current way of life. My immediate elder sister who always called me a lunatic when we were younger automatically became a thorn in my flesh.
She complained about everything I do, always saying I didn’t do the dishes well or I didn’t wash daddy’s car well. In my father’s house, uncle willy the gateman usually cleans mum and dad’s car every morning, and the house keeper does the dishes but my sister relieved them of their duties just because she doesn’t want me indoors anymore at least I mustn’t be praying and shouting like one who is “mad”, so she said!
That notwithstanding, I carried out all house hold duties effectively before going into my room to pray but folake chose to take the place of the devil in my life. I needed to devise a means to stop her from troubling me especially during my prayer hours and so I got a Bluetooth device from my daily savings. Whenever it was time for me to pray or whenever I perceived that she was coming around, I would connect the blue tooth device to my phone and begin to play either a message or a song. I made sure it was so loud that anybody outside my room won’t be able to detect if I was awake or sleeping or even praying!
The plan seemed to work for quite some time, I thought I had escaped folake little did I know that there was yet a greater enemy!
Guess who??

*_EPISODE TEN_*

Being an only son in the place where I come from demands that at least 95% of everything my father has belongs to me whether or not he was dead or alive but I was only permitted to lay full hold of them when he dies or whenever he chooses to release them to me at some point in life. Maybe my family actually forgot about tradition, maybe they were actually bewitched whichever was the case, it wasn’t a palatable experience for me.
Folake’s tantrums were getting to me on a daily basis, I found it hard to study for my exams, I also found it hard to pray except at midnights and at midnights, my parents also banned me from praying if my sisters weren’t comfortable with it! Whether or not my sisters were comfortable with it was not my problem, my problem was why shouldn’t I pray at all? Were they not the ones who taught us that prayer is the key, didn’t they also say that prayer is the master key, in fact, dad had always said that Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer, so why is my case different!?
I managed to put up with my family members, I decided I would coin out my own prayer time even if it was just an hour. The junior waec examination came quickly and I did everything humanly possible to pass the exams. I read my books to my own ability but something happened on the night before my exam began.
While I sat on my reading table studying for the morrow’s paper, I felt the urge to pray and tarry in the lord’s presence. At this point in my walk with the lord I had grown to a point where I knew what God wanted me to do at every point in time and so at that particular point, irrespective of the fact that I was reading, I knew it was time to pray and I closed my books.

I knelt down on the floor and began to worship God and after some time when my kneels could no longer support me, I laid down flat and began to pray, I didn’t know why I was praying but I just knew there was an urgency in the spiritual realm, I prayed for long and then I felt a presence in my room. Fear didn’t allow me open my eyes to see who it was but I perceived the body of the old man but his voice wasn’t as soft as it used to be.
He spoke angrily for quite some time while I just trembled at his feet.
“Jerusalem, once so full of people, is now deserted.
She who was once great among the nations now sits alone like a widow.
Once the queen of all the earth, she is now a slave.
She sobs through the night; tears stream down her cheeks.
Among all her lovers, there is no one left to comfort her.
All her friends have betrayed he nd become her enemies.
Judah has been led away into captivity, oppressed with cruel slavery.
She lives among foreign nation d has no place of rest.
Her enemies have chased her down, and she has nowhere to turn.
The roads to Jerusalem are in mourning, for crowds no longer come to celebrate the festivals.
The city gates are silent, her priests groan,
Her young women are crying— how bitter is her fate!
Her oppressors have become her masters, and her enemies prosper,
For the Lord has punished Jerusalem for her many sins.
Her children have been captured and taken away to distant lands.
All the majesty of beautiful Jerusalem has been stripped away.
Her princes are like starving deer searching for pasture.
They are too weak to run from the pursuing enemy.
In the midst of her sadness and wandering, Jerusalem remembers her ancient splendor.
But now she has fallen to her enemy, and there is no one to help her.
Her enemy struck her down and laughed as she fell.
Jerusalem has sinned greatly, so she has been tossed away like a filthy rag.
All who once honored her now despise her, for they have seen her stripped naked and humiliated.
All she can do is groan and hide her face.
She defiled herself with immorality and gave no thought to her future.
Now she lies in the gutter with no one to lift her out.

“Lord, see my misery,” she cries. “The enemy has triumphed.”
The enemy has plundered her completely, taking every precious thing she owns.
She has seen foreigners violate her sacred Temple, the place the Lord had forbidden them to enter.
Her people groan as they search for bread. They have sold their treasures for food to stay alive.
Who had made the old man angry?
How did he even get into my room in the first place?
Wait a minute! Why was his voice different from the usual voice I was used to?
I asked no one in particular as I laid on the floor trembling for hours but as time went on I felt him bend towards me and he touched my lips, with that action of his, I laid down flat on the floor so helpless, physical strength had left me but without being told I knew that something had happened to me!
I woke up to the steady knocks of mummy on my door to come to the sitting room for morning devotion and there it dawned on me that I had slept all through the night! I didn’t continue reading my book, I wasn’t so happy because I wasn’t used to asking questions in the examination hall. I sluggishly picked my bible and walked downstairs for devotion. I didn’t disclose to anyone the encounter I received during the night but even if I had, what would they have done rather than call me a lunatic?
