CORONAVIRUS EPIDEMICS: LAGOS GOES PARTYING, THEY REFUSE BAN ORDER
Despite the ban places on the gathering of people more than fifty people by the Lagos State government, to curb the surge and spread of the deadly coronavirus, COVID -19, it was observed by DOPEECH members who sent us reports across the city that Lagosians were yet to observed the gathering restrictions and follow the government directives.
Though, It was observed by our members/reporters that Friday Jumat services across the state could not be observed as many Jumat service mosques complied with the state directives.
The same could also be said of the Sunday church services as many presiding pastors have directed their members to restrain from coming to the church for the service
However, the same can not be said of the Lagos party goers who could not hold on their appetites for merry making or ( owanbe in local parlance ).
From Gbagada to Egbeda, from Lagos island area to Oshodi, Okoko area to Orile-iganmu, Amukoko, Ajegunle area, it was one party of naming ceremony, burial parties, Muslim walimat, house warming or the others.
A much crowded and large gathering of people for a wedding party was observed across the state.
In Abule -Egba areas, part of Agege area,large gathering of people were seen gathered for burial ceremony.
Naming ceremony in Okota-Isolo area and many of such across the state.
Talking to some who gathered for parties, they claimed the parties had been earlier set for the date and it maybe difficult to halt it in a short noticed.
Anyway, we believed that the compliance may start to be effective from Monday.
